Trustee Update: Upcoming December Meetings

I hope you had a delightful Thanksgiving holiday surrounded by loved ones as I did. As we enter the busy holiday season I wanted to give you a quick update of what’s coming up in December for the Palomar College Governing Board.

November 29 marked the final day of Dr. Star Rivera-Lacey’s tenure as Superintendent/President of Palomar College. Her positive impact on the institution is undeniable. During her five years as CEO, Palomar earned one of the strongest accreditation reviews in its history, completed all FCMAT recommendations, strengthened its financial position, and fostered a deeply rooted culture of inclusivity that now stands as part of our core identity.

Dr. Tina Recalde, formerly our Vice President of Instruction, is now serving as Acting Superintendent/President. We are fortunate to have her step into this role. Her leadership is a testament to the depth of talent and experience we have within our administrative team.

Upcoming Board Meetings

We have two important meetings scheduled in December:

  • December 10 – Special Meeting

The Board will receive an overview of the hiring procedures and begin discussing next steps in the search for Palomar’s next Superintendent/President.

  • December 16 – Regular Monthly Meeting & Annual Organizational Meeting

Our regular business meeting will be held alongside our yearly organizational session.

I invite you to join us and share your thoughts on these and any other issues impacting our college. You can attend in person at the Palomar College Learning Resource Center (LRC-436) or participate via Zoom:
